"The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying:
'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.'"
(Jeremiah 31:3)
One of my favorite songs currently is "The Truth" by Megan Woods. She sings these powerful lyrics:
The truth is I am my Father's child
I make Him proud and I make Him smile
I was made in the image of a perfect King
He looks at me and wouldn't change a thing
The truth is I am truly loved
By a God who's good when I'm not good enough
I don't belong to the lies, I belong to You
And that's the truth.
It is true: when God looked upon you after He created you, He was pleased and would not change a thing. Currently, because of His great love for us, there are many things He desires to change in all of us. First, he desires that we repent of our sins and believe in Jesus for salvation. He also wants to shape us more and more into the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29). Both our salvation and sanctification require dramatic changes. Allow this truth to sink deeply into your soul, and relish this truth: God truly loves you!
Megan Woods also sings in this song about how she struggles with listening to the wrong voices inside her head. We all struggle with this point, I would imagine. The devil, who constantly accuses and seeks to deceive us, pounds us with thoughts that are most unhelpful and damaging to our very lives. Our minds replay false narratives. The way we combat these temptations to listen to the wrong voices is to focus on the truth. John 14:6 states, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"
May the Lord grant you His peace and joy. If you would like to listen to the song by Megan Woods, you can here.
