This song and video have almost 3 million views on YouTube. Many people commented on the song. This one jumped out to me. One lady wrote: "Sounds like it was written just for me. I was the biggest sinner on earth before the Lord had mercy and saved me. He made me into a whole new creation. I AM new in Christ!"
In our biblical text for today's devotion, 1 Corinthians 6:11, the Apostle Paul tells the Corinthian believers then and all followers of Jesus today that we are different. We no longer live the sinful lives of our past. (Paul lists in verses 9-10 the sordid and sinful lives we lived before Christ changed us.) But then he writes, "But such were some of you." Before Christ, our lives were a mess, full of sin, pride, and living only to please ourselves. We were all hedonists, seeking only to gratify our desires. But look what Jesus has done! God has rescued us, redeemed us through the blood of Jesus.
Tasha Layton sings these powerful lines:
On the cross, in a grave
With a stone, rolled away
All my debt, it was paid
Look what You've done
In my heart, in my mind
In my soul, in my life
With my hands lifted high
I'm singing
Look what You've done
Look what You've done in me
You spoke Your truth into the lies I let my heart believe
Look at me now
Look how You made me new
The enemy did everything that he could do
Oh, but look what You've done
Join me today in speaking or singing these same words over your life. Praise God for what He has already done in us and all that He will do in and through us!
