I have been going to Dr. Bob's clinic for 10 years. He has helped me tremendously in multiple ways to help get me back to running marathons and competing in triathlons. In 2013, while on a mission trip to Canada, I tore my calf muscle while playing basketball with our students. It was very painful. I managed to get through the trip on crutches, but as soon as I got home, I went to see Dr. Bob. He and his staff gave me excellent treatment and care and expedited my healing, so I was able to get back to doing the things I love to do.
Each Tuesday, Dr. Bob goes to the University of Texas and treats the male athletes there. You know you must be good at what you do if UT has you in every week! Dr. Bob and his staff also treat governors, Hollywood actors, and professional athletes. But here is the great thing about Dr. Bob: he treats everyone the same. I love the fact that he gives everyone his best, no matter who they are or what they do. He is humble, kind, and very professional. I believe he knows more about human anatomy than anyone I have ever met.
Like King David in the Old Testament, Dr. Bob leads with integrity, and he is very skillful at what he does. The Hebrew word translated "skillfulness" in
Psalm 78:72 is
tabun. This word means to have intelligence, understanding, and skill. People who have
tabun are not only smart, but they also can apply what they know to help others. King David was an excellent leader, someone who led his people with great integrity and with much skill.
He knew what to do and how to do it. It is a blessing to meet people like this. They are fair, kind, and know what they are doing.
My good friend, Andy Spencer, has a great saying that goes like this: You are living a blessed life when you know what you are good at, you are able to do it, you get paid for doing it, and you are able to help others as you do it. That is how I feel about my good friend, Dr. Bob.
You and I may not be kings or renowned sports doctors, but all of us have been given gifts by God to use for His glory and in service to our fellow man. Have you found out what your unique gift is? If not, ask the Lord to show you. Maybe He already has and is waiting on you to get after it!
May the Lord bless each of you to be men and women of integrity, those who love God and others, and use your skills to help as many people as you can.
