Romans 8:28 and Steph Curry

Romans 8:28 and Steph Curry

It is rather easy to be a Steph Curry fan. He loves the Lord, his wife,
and their children, and he gives his best every time he gets on the court.

Romans 8:28 and Steph Curry

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

(Romans 8:28)

I am a big Steph Curry fan. It was entertaining to watch him and the Golden State Warriors win their fourth world championship in eight years. Plus, to top it off, Curry was named the MVP of the Finals. The Warriors beat the Boston Celtics in game 6 to win the series 4-2.

I heard him last week on the radio quoting Romans 8:28, and this was before they had won the big championship against the Celtics.

Just two years ago, the Warriors were the worst team in the NBA. They were struggling through injuries to key players and, honestly, they were just not that good. But with Klay Thompson healthy and Andrew Wiggins contributing, the Warriors were a team to be reckoned with. At the beginning of the NBA season, two commentators on ESPN placed a zero over their eyes indicating how many championships they thought the Warriors would win in the next four years. After winning the title, Curry also placed a zero over his eye and said, "I clearly remember some experts and talking heads putting up the big zero of how many championships we would have going forward because of everything that we went through. We hear all that. You carry it all and try to maintain your purpose, not let it distract you. But, you carry that weight. And, to get here, it all comes out, so it's special." (Source.)

Another somewhat comical Steph Curry story where he had the last laugh was after game 5 of the championship series with the Boston Celtics. Curry walked into the press conference wearing a t-shirt that said, "Ayesha Curry CAN cook." This was in reaction to a sign outside a bar in Boston that said, "Ayesha Curry can't cook." Steph has been married to Ayesha for 10 years. She takes cooking very seriously, as is obvious from her authoring a book on cooking and opening restaurants. Curry has a good attitude, however, about the back and forth with Boston fans. He said, "I use it as entertainment and just have fun with it. . . . Honestly, you wouldn't want to have it any other way, knowing that you're on this stage and you're playing for something that really matters to a lot of people." (Source.)

Curry and the Warriors' setbacks over the last couple of years proved to be a set up for a world championship. It was sweeter considering the difficulties they experienced.

I do not know what you are going through. You love the Lord but are going through a tough time right now and cannot see how any good can come out of this. Please know that you are loved! God is for you, and in ways that only He can, He will work it out for your good. Trust Him. Enjoy the journey as best you can, and wait for it. He always comes through.
