"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"
(Isaiah 6:8)
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope today you will reflect on all the ways God has blessed you, praise Him for it, and enjoy some sweet fellowship with family and friends.
If you know Jesus, rest assured He is calling you to go and serve Him. Will you respond like Isaiah did, with, "Here am I! Send me"? God may not be calling you to go serve Him overseas as a missionary, but I know for a fact that He wants you to be involved in some way in helping take the good news of Jesus to the nations. What will you do?
Ashley and I enjoy supporting missions and ministries that are impacting the world for Jesus. Both in our personal lives and in our DFEA ministry, we enjoy giving financially to help further the cause of Christ all over the world. I believe the Lord is calling me to give up my current gym membership so we can give more. I have been going to this gym for 12 years and enjoy it, but when they raised the membership dues again, I just did not have peace paying that much money. Some of that money I would spend at the gym will go a long way to help missionaries and the persecuted church.
Is God asking you to do something similar? We are so blessed to live in America. We live like kings and queens compared to most people on planet earth. I hope you will prayerfully consider how you can do even more for the Lord and the spreading of His Gospel.
Now back to my journal of our recent mission trip to Asia!
Next stop, the home of a politician, a leader of our adopted people group's community. He, his wife, two sons, and grandchild are here, and I shared the Gospel with them. They were very attentive!
Next visit was over an hour with a family and their extended family who also are a part of our formerly unreached people group. I am so encouraged by the number of people in this group that GHBC adopted almost ten years ago. Praise God we are seeing many of them come to faith in Jesus! There are 17 people packed in an 8x8 room. Tom shared his testimony, and then I preached from Luke 4:18-19, where Jesus said these awesome words:
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed."
We know of a couple of elderly ladies in the group who are not saved, so I shared the Gospel. After I preached, we stayed and answered questions. The owner of the home asked why we chose his people. I told them about our former missions' pastor who is now in heaven. Mike was most instrumental in us adopting this people group. I taped the people giving a greeting to Claudia, Mike's wife, and I sent it to her. She texted me back that it meant so much to her. It was a blessed time, packed in a small house, and the fellowship was so sweet.
Now we are en route to our next assignment. It's 7:00 p.m., and we still have to get there, then I will share a message, eat dinner, and then we have an hour drive to the hotel... and then we have to be up at 4:30 a.m. It's going to be a short night of rest and a full day tomorrow as we meet more ministers and then drive to the city where we will catch our flight home. On mission! Let's go!
