Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord! 🙌

Different attributes and qualities in people are so easy to notice, and we
should celebrate them. I am thankful and glad that none of us are the same.

Praise the Lord!

"This week, I have asked my son, Bryant Forshee, to write our daily devotions. Bryant is the Minister to Junior High Students at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX."
- Pastor Danny
"Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"

(Revelation 4:8)

As many of you know, I have two siblings: Hannah and Leighton. Growing up in the Forshee home, all three of us were (and still are!) different in our own unique ways. As a kid, Hannah was kind, gentle, and always wanted to play school. For some reason, she was always the teacher, and Leighton and I were always the students. Funny how that always just seemed to "happen". :) Leighton was energetic, funny, and was the lucky one who would always find a way to win at every game he ever played. (Seriously, it was so annoying.) I was the quiet, middle child who liked to sit back and observe and loved to play anything and everything.

Different attributes and qualities in people are so easy to notice, and we should celebrate them. I think about growing up in the Forshee home and the different dynamics and personalities that were ever-present. I am thankful and glad that none of us were the same--that Hannah and I weren't the same, that Leighton and I weren't the same, that Hannah and Leighton weren't the same. Being different brings about different opportunities. I think we would all say the same thing: we are all thankful for differences.

While we agree that being different from other people is good, I want to encourage you to see that the truth of "different is good" can also be applied to the time we are living in right now. In the midst of COVID-19, times have definitely been, well, different. It has required us to live a different lifestyle. Our work weeks have looked different. Our weekends have looked different. Our outlook and lifestyle has been different than usual.

Where there is all of this "different" around, I have been convicted that God is still worthy to be praised and to praise him in the midst of the "different". I think of Revelation 4:8, where God is being praised day and night:

"Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"

All day and night, God is being ascribed praise and glory! Yes, things on earth are happening, yes God sees it all, but even more resoundingly, YES, God is being praised even as all this craziness is going on. The changing times don't change our worship of God! Even though COVID-19 has made our current time quite different, we as Chrsitians can still worship the Holy God, because He is worthy.

What I encourage you to do today is make a playlist of your favorite worship songs and play them around your house. Worship the God who is worthy of praise, even when times are different.
