Here Am I, Send Me (Pt. 2)

Here Am I, Send Me (Pt. 2)

Do you get distracted from being on mission with Christ? With all that
is going on in our world, it's easy to miss opportunities to bless others.

Here Am I, Send Me (Pt. 2)

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send?
And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'"

(Isaiah 6:8)

Last Wednesday, I was praying and fasting like I do many Wednesdays in preparation for our Wednesday evening prayer meetings at Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin, TX. We have a blessed time of gathering with the people of God all over the USA. If you would like to join in with us, feel free to do so at our website (ghbc.org) or joining us on Facebook Live or our YouTube channel.

On this day, I needed to fast for another reason: I was scheduled for eye surgery on my left eye. If you have ever had surgery, then you know you cannot eat or drink anything before surgery. A nurse explained to me why: If you have food in your stomach, you can have a reaction to the anesthesia that causes that food to end up in your lungs. That's not a good thing! To be honest, I was pretty focused that morning and ready to get this surgery done. But God had His plans for me on that day as well. Two men came to our home that morning to do some tile work. God did not have to send me very far to be about His work! These guys were in my home!

God blessed and gave me a good opportunity to speak with Marco and Daniel. They were very receptive, and I am so glad I did not get overly fixated on fasting and surgery and miss the best thing I could have done that day, which was sharing the Lord with these two men.

Do you get easily distracted from being on mission with Christ? It is so easy to miss opportunities to bless others because we get so enamored and caught up with what is going on in our world. Let me encourage you today to be available to God to use you no matter what. Today may be a good day for you, or it may not. You may be getting ready for a surgery, a big meeting at the office, a difficult conversation with a neighbor, or a host of other things on your agenda today... but God has a bigger plan. He wants to work in you to conform you more into the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29), and He wants to work through you to point another soul to the Savior.

Are you ready for the opportunity that God may very well be preparing for you? Come, let us do this. The Lord is with us, and Philippians 4:13 is still in the Bible! Do what Isaiah did, and ask the Lord to send you!
