"And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
(Matthew 28:20b, NLT)
Happy Friday! The song for today is "Always on Time" by Elevation Worship. I was recently introduced to this song, and it has quickly become a song that I listen to over and over again in my car. (Anyone else a song-killer like me?) I want to focus on the chorus and the bridge! The chorus is below:
Jesus
I was tossed in the water
But I never went under
You were always on time
Jesus
When I went through the fire
You were right there besidе me
You were always on timе
You were always, always, always on time
And You were always, always, always on time
What I love about this song is that the emphasis is on Jesus! It proclaims that Jesus is with us in the hardest times of life, and that He is not only with us, but His timing is perfect. I know in my own life, I have gone through moments of "Where are you God?" in certain situations. In the moment, it is hard to see how God is involved, and sometimes I do not feel like He is with me in those moments. But as time goes on and I reflect on how I went through those times, I can clearly see the hand of God moving in hard situations. This song brings me encouragement that God is with me and that He is always on time.
Now for the bridge:
There's never been a day, never been a minute
Never been a moment that You weren't in it
There's never been a time that You didn't see me through, God
So I worship You
If the chorus declares to us that God is with us in the hard times, then the bridge declares that He is with us in every time. It is crazy to wrap my head around the fact that God is with me every moment of every day. That sounds rudimentary and a basic application of the truth that God is omnipresent, but sometimes hearing a simple truth in a new way refreshes that truth to me and makes it really hit home. That is what this song reminded me of: the omnipresence of God and the availability of God in every moment. The song reminded me of the truth that Jesus told His disciples as He was about to ascend into heaven! That He would be with us always, even to the end of the age. With a reassurance of Matthew 28:20, the bridge ends with "I worship you". What a response to the omnipresence of God: worship!
I hope this song encourages you as much as it encourages me!
