Who Else?

Who Else?

ONLY Jesus is worthy of our worship and our heart's affection. So why is it so easy to set our heart's affection on things of this world instead?

Who Else?

This week's devotions are written by my son, Bryant Forshee, Lead Student Pastor for Cross Church, Springdale, AR campus.
- Pastor Danny
"They said with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!"

(Revelation 5:12, CSB)

"Who Else" by Gateway Worship is a song I have been jamming out to a lot recently! I love this song because it so boldly declares that Jesus ALONE is worthy of our worship! Here is the chorus:

Who else is worthy? Who else is worthy?
There is no one, only You, Jesus
Who else is worthy? Who else is worthy?
There is no one, only You, Jesus

This is so true. ONLY Jesus is worthy of our worship and our heart's affection. I think it is too easy to set our heart's affection on things of this world rather than on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Now, typing that sentence out seems blasphemous; why would anyone ever choose anything other than Jesus to set their heart's affection on? Well, just think about your past 48 hours, and think about when your heart's affections were not on Jesus and were on other things instead. We CONSTANTLY need to be reminded to set our heart's affection on Jesus, because ONLY He is worthy.

This song reminds me of Revelation 5, where a whole great multitude of angels, beings, and elders are declaring that Jesus is worthy to receive "power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!" The song goes on to say this in the bridge:

Lamb of God, anointed One
Who was and is and is to come
Seated on the throne above
Holy, Holy
Righteous One who shed His blood
You proved to us the Father's love
Jesus Christ be lifted up
Holy, Holy

This song so beautifully declares that only Jesus is worthy of our worship, that Jesus is seated on the throne above, because His redemptive work is finished, that He is holy, and that He should be lifted up constantly every day in our hearts and lives.

May this be a song that you worship to today and lift up that only Jesus is worthy!
