Principles to Live By: Sowing and Reaping, Pt. 4

God does not want us to be weary. He wants to be our strength & for us to rely fully upon Him. He will bring the harvest in due time, according to His will.

Principles to Live By: Sowing and Reaping, Pt. 4

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked;
for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap."

(Galatians 6:7)

Yesterday was my 59th birthday, so I have one more year in the 50's and then it is on to the 60's. I am so grateful to God for the years He has given me and the seeds others have sown into my life. I have had challenges like everyone else, some bad seeds sown into my life, but praise God, I have had far more good and godly seeds sown deeply into my soul. God is so good, and His Word is true: we do indeed reap what we sow.

Galatians 6:9 states, "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." For me, this verse gives both conviction as well as encouragement. The convicting part is when I fail to obey the text and I do become weary while doing good for our Lord. He does not want you or I to be weary. He wants to be our strength and for us to rely fully upon Him. He will bring the harvest in due time, when the season is ready, according to His will and plan, not our own. I have been in seasons of harvesting and also in seasons of plowing and waiting on the harvest, but in all seasons, God is still God and He is always in control. We cannot miss what He does in us, especially in those hard seasons of life.

Ashley and I went to see the movie The Sound of Freedom, in which Jim Caviezel plays the part of Tim Ballard, an officer with Homeland Security. It is an intense movie that I recommend you go and see. Ballard is a great example of someone who did many good deeds, did not give up, and reaped a harvest. He took it upon himself to rescue children who were kidnapped and taken into sex trafficking. Ballard is one brave man who goes after these evil child sex traffickers. Child sex and porn is a $150 billion a year industry. It is heartbreaking to think of how these evil seeds of destruction are being sown into the hearts, minds, and bodies of these innocent children. But God will not be mocked. Those who perpetuate these evil acts will meet the fierce wrath of Almighty God.

Maybe you are becoming weary while doing good. Can I encourage you to do a couple of things? First, do not quit or give up. There is coming a day of victory and peace. Hang in there. If you are doing what God wants you to do, you will win. The second thing I would share with you is, pace yourself. Take time to rest and replenish. God does not want you to become weary while you serve Him. He wants you to be in a good frame of mind. Set a healthy rhythm of work and rest. We need you! The Kingdom of God needs you to continue and be strong and keep fighting the good fight of faith!
