As we conclude our look at Jude 24-25, would you take a moment to reflect on all the Lord has impressed upon you through the Scriptures this week? What has stood out to you? That the Lord is both the source and sustainer of our salvation? That we are presented blameless though guilty, or that the Lord does this with great joy? Perhaps the reality of our God being the only God stood out to you. Or maybe the Lord has revealed something else to you. Take a moment and thank Him for that.
Let us read Jude 24-25 one last time, and then we will zoom in on the final clause.
"Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."
Amen and amen. This last phrase, "[to Him] be glory, majesty, dominion and authority before all time and now and forever. Amen," says so much about our great God.
Glory: God's glory is the sum of all of his amazing attributes. All that He is in its fullness: this is the glory of God. Some definitions of the word "glory" in English include "high renown or magnificence", but the glory of the Lord is even bigger than these words. It is the highest renown and the greatest magnificence displayed perfectly. Glory belongs to the Lord. He is glorious.
Majesty: The Greek word used here is megalosyne. Take a look at that prefix: mega! This speaks to the greatness of the Lord.
Dominion: This word can be translated many ways: force, might, strength. This highlights the power of our Lord. He is omnipotent, all-powerful. This is such an encouraging truth for me to reflect on. Whatever is worrying you, whatever is coming against you, whatever would seek to lead you astray, the Lord is more powerful than it.
Authority: The Lord has the ability to carry out all that He sets out to do. He is able to bring all His promises to fruition. He has the license to do all that He wants, and nothing can stand in His way. He has complete rule over all He has created.
Before All Time and Now and Forever: All of these amazing realities we have spoken about this week, they are not only true for us in eternity to come, but they are real for us now. And they are not only true for us for a time, they will endure for all eternity.
The passage and therefore the book of Jude ends with a familiar word: Amen. Do you know what this word means? It means "truly" or "so be it". So when you end a prayer with "Amen", you are saying, "So be it." It is an expression of faith.
"Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."
Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
