He is Present

He is Present

When you call on God in truth, He is near. When you fear God, He fulfills your desires. When you cry out to God, He hears you and saves you.

Happy Friday!

As we continue our study of Psalm 145 this week, let's conclude by studying verses 17-21:

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.
18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.
20 The Lord preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

Amen, and praise the Lord!

In this passage, the attributes of God that stand out to me the most are that He is "near", and that he "fulfills", "hears", "saves", and "preserves" those who love and fear Him. What beautiful promises these are. When you call on Him in truth, He is near. When you fear the Lord, He fulfills your desires. When you cry out to Him, He hears you and saves you. When you love Him, He promises to preserve you.

In Genesis 16, we find the story of Hagar. She is in the wilderness all by herself after being mistreated by both Abram and Sarai. She is in a place of desperation and feeling alone when the Lord meets her in this place. An angel of the Lord gives her multiple promises from God, and Hagar praises God as "El Roi", the God Who Sees Me. In a place of great despair, the Lord met her. Even in her pain, anger and fear, the Lord saw her.

Take courage, dear friends, that wherever you find yourself today, even if it's the highest high or the deepest depths, God sees you. He is near, and you can call on Him. Remember that He is gracious. He welcomes you in. He is present even in your sufferings. He never leaves you.

Yes, the great God and King who is gracious and enough to satisfy your every need sees you.

The Psalms really do give us incredible vocabulary for our worship and prayers! When I seek to worship God but just don't know what to say, I often turn to the Psalms. They remind me of so many amazing truths about God and lead me to praise Him for them.

I hope that this short journey through Psalm 145 with me this week has been a blessing to you and that it will lead you to worship God in response to who He is. Perhaps you could go back through Psalm 145 and see which attributes of God stand out to you. Or pick a new psalm and marvel at how God reveals Himself through it.

I pray that your daily worship will be filled with praise to our great God and King who is gracious, enough, and sees you... and so much more.
