Are you waiting on God? Waiting usually has negative connotations, because no one enjoys having to wait. We get irritated waiting in a long line at the store or waiting for a friend to show up when he is running late. No one enjoys waiting, but God tells us we are to wait on Him. King David wrote, "I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry." How can you and I do that? Is it possible for us to wait patiently on the LORD? It is not only possible, but it is also a spiritual discipline we need to incorporate in our walk with God.
God is never early or late; He is perfectly on time. We can trust Him, knowing that He is in control and only has our best interests in mind, because He loves us. I admit, waiting is difficult, and it is an area in which I need to grow.
If you are waiting on God, you can trust Him. He hears your cries for mercy and deliverance. He sees every tear that drops from your face as you petition heaven for your marriage, your health, a loved one to come to Jesus, or whatever your heartfelt request might be.
Praising God while waiting on God is a great way to grow in your walk with Him. Waiting on the Lord to come through for you means you trust in Him; you relinquish control to the One who is truly in control. Maybe that is part of our problem: we enjoy being in control, and we get impatient with God because we think we know better than He knows.
When God comes through for you and answers your prayer, you will be so glad you persevered in prayer and waited on Him to answer in His perfect timing. Proverbs 13:12 says, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life." Proverbs 13:19 states, "A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil."
Keep trusting in Jesus; wait on the LORD, as Isaiah tells us. God hears, and He will come through for you in wonderful ways.
