"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
God's Word, the Holy Bible, is inspired, inerrant, and fully reliable. When you share the Scriptures with someone, you can have full confidence that you are speaking the truth. The Bible has both internal and external evidence as to its truthfulness. The Bible makes internal claims like in today's passage and Isaiah 40:8, which states, "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever." As for external evidence, fulfilled prophecy, number of manuscripts, and archaeological findings all point to the Bible as being the unique Word of God.
Last week, a friend in our church sent me an article from the Houston Chronicle that points to the accuracy of Scripture. An archaeologist from Katy, TX recently discovered an ancient tablet that helps date the original writing of the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible) back to 1500 BC. This is a most significant find for conservative biblical scholarship. I love it when science and archeology catch up with the Bible! I encourage you to read the short article here.
Another good resource I recommend to you is a recent interview conducted by Dr. Frank Harber. Frank is a good friend of mine. He has a PhD from Southwestern Seminary and a JD law degree from Texas A&M. In this episode of his podcast, he interviews Pastor Jack Graham from Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX. The title is "Jack Graham on The Inerrancy of the Bible," and you can watch it here:
