Christmas Grace, Pt. 4

Christmas Grace, Pt. 4

Every day we get opportunities to behold the glory of Jesus. His glory is on display in every heart He enters, every sick body He heals, and every life He changes.

Christmas Grace, Pt. 4

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

(John 1:14)

Jesus is glorious to behold. When John states, "we beheld His glory," I believe he has in mind the person and works of Jesus. Christ claimed to be the Son of God, the only begotten of the Father, and He backed up that claim with His life and miracles. John beheld Him when He was transfigured in John 17, He saw Him feed the 5,000 in John 6, and he saw Him after He arose from the dead in John 20.

We read in 1 John 1:1-4, "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us—that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full."

Every day, when we see Jesus at work, we get an opportunity to behold the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6). His glory is still on display in every heart He enters, every sick body He heals, and every life He changes. I saw His glory on display last week when I attended the No Agenda Pastors' Golf Fellowship in Orlando, FL. For 15 years, I have been attending this fellowship sponsored by Jay Strack and Jack Graham. It is a fun time with a few surprise visits from people. I had no idea that Ben Roethlisberger was attending the event. Both Ben and his center for many years, Mark Pouncey, came to our dinner. Many of you recognize his name as Big Ben who played quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers for 18 years. He won 2 Super Bowls and will eventually be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. Ben brought his 10-year-old son with him as well. Big Ben (and he is BIG, like 6'5", 235 pounds) told of how God changed his life about 5 years ago. He was baptized by Dr. Timothy Clinton from Liberty University. Dr Clinton was also present at dinner and introduced Ben. Standing before us was another clear example of the glory of Jesus, for only Jesus can change a man from the inside out.

How is the glory of Jesus being displayed in your life today? Are you like Big Ben, openly sharing your testimony of how Jesus Christ has changed and blessed you? If no, then come on; let's get after it! So many people need to hear your story of salvation because they too are hurting, and as Bart Millard sings in his song, "Then Christ Came", they are in desperate need of the Savior.
