Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing,
Come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo (x3)
A few years ago, I was able to travel to Bethlehem, and it was a wonderful trip. What a blessing to see the place where Jesus was born, to go out to the countryside and see where the angels appeared to the shepherds to tell them the Savior had been born.
When we come and adore Jesus on bended knee, as the song so powerfully asserts, then we are engaging upon the greatest and most fulfilling adventure. We are doing what everyone eventually will do, and that is worship Jesus the Christ. (Romans 14:11: "For the Scriptures say, 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.' Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God." Philippians 2:9-11: "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.") In the end, all will acknowledge what heaven already knows and what believers in Jesus have experienced personally: Jesus is Lord of all. Some will bow and acknowledge this fact, but it will be eternally too late, as they will live separated from God because they rejected His offer of love and forgiveness while on this earth. I am so grateful to God that He saved me, and I gladly bow my knees in worship to Him, both now and forevermore!
"Dear Heavenly Father, I praise Your glorious and awesome name. Thank You for Your salvation that You freely grant to all who believe. Thank You for the abundant and eternal life provided for us through Your Son Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. You are worthy, Oh Lord, of all praise and glory."
