"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
(2 Corinthians 12:9)
I have dear people in my life who are going through some dark nights of their souls. My heart goes out to them. There are no easy answers. There are times when the best thing we can do for people walking through these dark and deep valleys is to be there for them and let them know that we care and are praying for them.
A close friend shared with me that he prayed so hard for a friend to be healed, but his friend died. He told me he prayed in faith totally believing that God would heal his friend of his sickness. He asked why God had not answered in the way he had prayed. Mainly, I just listened with compassion, and I think that is perhaps the best thing I could have done. I did share with him that there is mystery and we often do not ultimately know why. God is faithful and in control, and He often works in ways we cannot see.
Evan Craft and Danny Gokey's new song "Be Alright" gives us the assurance and confidence that God is in control and ultimately everything will be alright. The song closes with the reminder that God has got the whole wide world in His hands. Gokey knows firsthand about heartache. His first wife died of cancer just prior to him appearing on the TV show American Idol.
But God is good, and He will either heal or give us the grace to endure. As Paul writes in our Scripture for today, His grace is sufficient for us.
I encourage you to take a few minutes and listen to "Be Alright". I believe it will bless and encourage you.
