Passionate People

Passionate People

How passionate are you? Are you giving your best to whatever it is that God has tasked you to do?

Passionate People

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men."

(Colossians 3:23)

Love him or strongly dislike him, Coach Nick Saban is the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) college football coach. Next month he will turn 70 years old, but he is still going strong. He is by far the best recruiter and coach in the world of college football. Now, it is hard for me to admit all of this, because he coaches at that other college in Alabama. (Yes, I am a huge Auburn fan!) By the way, I think it would be cool if Coach Sarkisian defeated Saban and the Tide next year when they play at the University of Texas. Just sayin'. Yes, college football is back!

But you must give it to Saban, he is great at and very passionate about his job. He said one time on a radio talk show that his team was not just going to win but would dominate their opponents. He went on to say the Crimson Tide is going to give their best and be held accountable. Saban said when he coached for Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots, they had a simple but powerful three word motto: "Do your job." Another one of Saban's famous quotes is, "Stay with the process."

How passionate are you? Are you giving your best to whatever it is that God has tasked you to do? I enjoy being around people of passion. They challenge me, and their enthusiasm is contagious. I recently listened to a podcast featuring David Allen. Allen is a NYT bestselling author. He wrote Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity. He is most passionate about helping people declutter their minds so they can live peacefully and get much accomplished. Just listening to him talk motivated me greatly.

All of us are passionate about something. But all followers of Christ need to be passionate for Jesus Christ, serving Him, and helping do our part in building His Church. The Apostle Paul was passionate for Christ and serving Him. He was the Goat of missionaries and church planters. Paul was relentless in his pursuit of knowing Jesus and making Him known to the world. This is my aim as well; how about you?
