"See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them."
(Deuteronomy 1:8)
Oftentimes when we talk of waiting in a spiritual sense, it includes us waiting on God. It is very biblical to wait on the Lord. It is not easy, but it is so important that the child of God waits on the Heavenly Father. Psalm 27:14 states, "Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!"
But there are also times when the Lord is waiting on us. By that I mean, He has spoken and confirmed in our hearts what He intends for us to do, and now we just need to do it! I felt this recently while driving to work at Great Hills Baptist Church, where I have served as pastor for the last eleven years. God has been putting some big things on my heart, and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, "It is time." It is time to step forward into what He would have me lead our church to accomplish. I have shared these plans and visions with our Lead Team of pastors. I am a little nervous because it involves some big moves and steps forward for the Kingdom of God.
Is there something God has put on your heart, and you have every reason to move forward except for your own inhibitions? Michael Todd serves as the pastor of Transformation Church in Tulsa, OK. God continues to bless and use this church to reach many for Christ. I heard him say in an interview that when he is 51% sure about a major decision to move forward, then he moves full steam ahead! I admire his faith. I am more a 75% kind of guy, but hey, when God says move, let us move!
God told Moses to tell the children of Israel to get going. It was time to move into the Promised Land. No more delay. No more planning. No more "What if..." questions. Just move.
May God grant you and me the courage and faith to step out and do what He has called us to do. Even today, let us move forward in Jesus' name.
