Rattle!

Rattle!

God does the impossible! He specializes in the miraculous. He brings dead things to life.

Rattle!

"Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year.  So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet."

(2 Kings 13:20-21)

One of my favorite songs is "Rattle!" by Elevation Worship. It is upbeat and encourages me each time I hear it. One of the lines in the song is taken from today's biblical text. Some may ask, "Is that really in the Bible? Did this really happen?" The answer to both questions is yes.

Part of the lyrics of "Rattle!" are:

My God is able to save and deliver and heal
And restore anything that He wants to
Just ask the man who was thrown
On the bones of Elisha
If there's anything that He can't do
Just ask the stone that was rolled
At the tomb in the garden
What happens when God says to move
I feel Him moving it now
I feel Him doing it now
I feel Him doing it now
Do it now, do it now

Here is the link to the song; it has over 12 million views on YouTube!
The song reminds me of the vision God gave Ezekiel in Ezekiel 37, the vision of the dry bones. God spoke, and those bones took on flesh and were assembled into a mighty army. The primary takeaway I would like for you to have from today's devotion is this: God does the impossible! He specializes in the miraculous. He brings dead things to life. One of the testimonies I read online of how God used this song powerfully was from a lady who shared how God was working in her and her ex-husband's lives. They had been divorced for five years but were looking into being restored. Stories like that encourage me so much. It reminds me how God is still working miracles in our day and time.

Some of you reading this today need a miracle. I join you in that prayer. May God do what only He can do in your life. If He doesn't answer in the way that you think he should, please trust Him. He knows what He is doing. He is working in ways you cannot see.
