"Give discernment to me, your servant; then I will understand your laws."
(Psalm 119:125)
Prayer is life's greatest time-saver. If you give time to God in worship, prayer, and Bible intake, He will bless the remainder of your day. You can do so much more and get a great deal of things accomplished if you are operating in the power of God and filled with the Holy Spirit! How does this happen? Begin the day with prayer, and then throughout the day, take time to pray. Seriously. Prayer is the vital way you talk to God and get His peace and presence in your life. I read the Bible in the mornings, and then during the remainder of the day, probably 5-6 times in the course of the day, I will pray to God and recount those verses that I read that morning. It is a simple discipline that gives me so much joy and peace. And God just blesses this simple exercise. He expands what I am able to do because He is giving me the power to do it, a power received in moments alone with Him.
I cannot implore you enough to get in the Word of God and pray at the very start of your day. It will set the course for the remainder of the day. Start the day in prayer, and continue in prayer throughout the day. Be quiet and listen to Him and read His Word. Pastor Stanley said it is not so much what you do but who you spend your time with. Almost every day, he said he reads Psalm 119:125-128, 133. He said these verses remind him that he is a servant and needs God. The Word of God says:
"Give discernment to me, your servant; then I will understand your laws. LORD, it is time for you to act, for these evil people have violated your instructions. Truly, I love your commands more than gold, even the finest gold. Each of your commandments is right. That is why I hate every false way. Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil."
Psalm 119:127 makes me think of a song I have been wanting to share with you all week! It is my new favorite song, entitled "Jesus is Better" by Cross Church Worship. Take a moment and listen to this song and worship Christ. Focus on Him, talk to Him, and be blessed by Him. You can listen to the song here:
