...and here are few of the lyrics:
"I'm 'bout to have a good day (good day), No matter what they say (what they say). The Sun is shining down on me, Birds are singing praise. I'm 'bout to have a good day (good day), In every single way. The God who made the universe, Knows me by my name. So it's a good day. Baby in my arms walking through the neighborhood. Living in the present, not woulda shoulda, or could I remember back when I was low as a rug. Now I'm standing up, look at what my father does. Turning old things new, Grey skies blue. Hear the church saying: Won't He do it. I know he's got my back. That's why I'm singing that, I'm 'bout to have a good day (good day)."
God is so good to us. He blesses us in every way imaginable, but not so that we can bask in our blessings. The truly fulfilled life is one where you take the blessings of God and go and bless and help others. Charles Stanley lists many ways that Jesus blessed others and how we should follow our Lord's example and be a blessing to others in the same ways. We will look at five of these today and five tomorrow when we conclude this series of devotions on the principle of "Blessed to be a Blessing".
- He saved us. Mark 16:15 says: "And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'" Jesus has blessed us with salvation, and therefore we simply have to go and tell the world how awesome He is. The greatest blessing you can ever convey upon another person is to share the gospel with them.
- He loves us. 1 Peter 4:8 says: "And above all things have fervent love for one another, for 'love will cover a multitude of sins.'" Express your love in words and deeds, give your life for others, genuinely love other people. "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God" (1 John 4:7).
- He forgives our sins. "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32). God is faithful and just to forgive us of every sin we confess (1 John 1:9). If you are not a believer, begin with confessing your sins and getting saved. We must forgive everyone every time. We must bless others with forgiveness, whether they ask for it or not. It will make life so much sweeter for everyone, including yourself, when you choose the path of forgiveness!
- He teaches the truth. Galatians 6:6 says: "Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches." The Lord has given us the Holy Spirit, and He makes us capable of sharing truth. Bless someone today by telling them the truth.
- He comforts us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." Bless someone today with your prayers and presence. Show up in their life when they need it the most. Don't just tell people you are praying for them; pray for them!
Tomorrow we will wrap up with the five remaining ways Jesus blesses people, and in so doing, He has given us an example to follow.
