Walking in the Spirit, Pt. 3

Walking in the Spirit, Pt. 3

The Holy Spirit is God. He is a Person, not a force. He thinks, reasons, has emotions, can be grieved, and He speaks.

Walking in the Spirit, Pt. 3

"I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."

(Galatians 5:16)

In the Hands of Christ My King is a powerful song by Austin Stone Worship. You can listen to the song here:
Here are some of the lyrics that speak of the Holy Spirit:

Come Holy Spirit, move in power
Ignite my heart with Your holy fire
Show me the Father, show me the Son
Revive my soul again, O Spirit come

O Spirit come
Let Him here now
Move in power
Move in power

Come Holy Spirit fill me up
'Till I am carried by Your rising flood
Show me the Father, show me the Son
Revive my soul again, O Spirit come.

The Holy Spirit is God. He is a Person, not a force. He thinks, reasons, has emotions, can be grieved, and He speaks. Ephesians 4:30 says, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." One of the clearest verses in the Bible that teach us about the deity of the Spirit is Acts 5:3-4: "But Peter said, 'Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?  While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.'"

All three Persons of the Trinity are co-equal and co-eternal. Their essence of deity is the same, yet they have different functions and even submission within the Godhead of Father, Son, and Spirit. The Father sends the Son for our salvation, and the Father and the Son send the Spirit into our lives. Regarding the Holy Spirit: we cannot live the Christian life without Him and His direction in our lives.

Jesus calls the Holy Spirit the Parakletos, the one who walks beside us, a comforter. He is with us and helps us. Praise God! While teaching on the Holy Spirit, Jesus said in John 14:18: "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." Take a moment and thank God that as a follower of Jesus, you have the Holy Spirit living within you. He is the One who grants to you truth and power. Now, go today and live in that power and be a shining example of what the Spirit can do with someone who is yielded to Him.
