Life is hard. Can I get an amen?
The old saying is true: "You're either going through a storm, just coming out of a storm, or about to walk into a storm." With storms inevitable and a part of everyday life, aren't you glad to have people in your corner who walk through life with you? I know that in my own life, I have some amazing people who walk through life with me.
When I think of these people who check in on me and who take time to reach out to me, my mind is immediately grateful that I have people who live out Proverbs 17:17. That verse says, "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." Do you have people like this in your life? ...and here is a question I want to focus more on: Are YOU that person in someone else's life?
It is always great to have people in your life checking on you, but how often are you checking in on the people that are in your life? In an ever-connected world with social media, cell phones, and the internet, we have access to a lot of information. With this information, we can know when people are going through tough times and times of adversity. With this knowledge we should be reaching out to those people!
What about you?
Are you reaching out to your brothers and sisters in Christ when you see things going on in their lives?
Are you reaching out to them just to check in and see if there is anything you can pray for them about?
Today's devotion is a little shorter on purpose, because I want you to take some time RIGHT NOW to put into practice Proverbs 17:17. If it is early in the morning, shoot them a text, if it is later in the day, make a phone call, but what I want you to do is answer this question: Who do you need to reach out to that is going through tough times and adversity?
We all need people who check in with us in life, and we desperately need people to check in with us when we are going through tough times and adversity!
