"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,"
(Hebrews 10:24, CSB)
This week, we are going to try something a little different! Some of you are very excited at that sentence, and others are contemplating, "Should I even continue to read?" Well, CONTINUE to read! Please. :) Each day, we are going to look at a passage of scripture (obviously), but we will end with a specific point of application for the day! So let's kick off this Monday with Hebrews 10:24!
Currently, Kyndall and I are in Destin, Florida at our first ever Youth Pastor Metro. This is a time for youth pastors from across the country to gather and learn from one another, have community with one another, and sharpen our skills as youth pastors. I have heard about this event for many years, and now going to it, I am PUMPED!
The thing that makes me the most excited, besides spending time with Kyndall, is to learn from other youth pastors! From all that I have heard, this is a time of encouragement and learning. We get to hear from other people, learn from other people, and be encouraged by other people. This week, my prayer is Hebrews 10:24. That I would be stirred up to love and good works. I love how the NLT puts this verse: "Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works." That is what this week is going to do for me; it is going to MOTIVATE me to love God more, love my family more, love people more, love the ministry more, and then it is going to MOTIVATE me to do good works. I am excited to walk away from this week stirred up and motivated to love and do good works!
What about you? Do you have people, brothers and sisters in Christ, in your life who motivate you to love Jesus more? ...to do more good works for Jesus? As you are thinking about these people, I will ask you the question that started this paragraph: What about you? Is there someone in your circle of friends, family, or workplace who is a follower of Jesus that you can encourage to love and do good works today? Maybe it is sending a Bible verse to them, or asking how you can pray for them, or asking an accountability question that stirs them and motivates them to love and do good works. Whatever it is, reach out to that person.
So here comes the APPLICATION:
- Who can you motivate to LOVE and DO GOOD WORKS today?
