"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name."
(Psalm 100:4, CSB)
One of the biggest "thankfulness growers" in my life is worship music! I love being able to sing in the car, sing in my mind, sing at church, and really, sing anywhere and everywhere. I am not saying my life is a musical and there are just songs happening everywhere; I am saying that I try to fill my day with worship music as often as I can because of what it brings to my heart and mind! Worship music is so powerful because it emphatically declares magnificent truths about God! As you sing these truths, your heart becomes thankful for who God is to you, what He has done, and most importantly, you realize the infinite worth of who God is and the truth that He loves you and wants a relationship with you humbles you to the point of adoration of God! One of the songs that I have been very thankful for and has been on repeat for me is "The Wonderful Blood" by Tiffany Hudson. Here is the chorus:
The blood, the blood, the blood
Oh, the wonderful blood
Your love, Your love, Your love
Oh, the marvelous love
Let the redeemed sing a song
Praises belong to the Son
The blood, the blood, the blood
Oh, the wonderful blood
This song sings about the blood of Jesus that was spilled for all mankind to have the opportunity to enter into a covenant relationship with the God of the universe! As I listen to the song, my mind immediately goes to the cross of Calvary, where Jesus spilt His blood. As I think about the cross and the blood that Jesus spilled, I cannot help but be overcome with thankfulness for Jesus' sacrifice and for what His sacrifice on the cross means for me!
The bridge of the song goes like this:
The work You did is finished
All of our sins forgiven
And now we get to live in
The wonder of the working blood
The cross was Your decision
But death was not the ending
You rose and now we're risen
Oh, the wonder of the working blood
"The wonder of the working blood"! What a poignant line as she sings about the powerful work the blood of Jesus does in the life of the believer! This song is all about proclaiming truths about Jesus and His wonderful blood. Today, I encourage you to listen to this song. As you listen, think about the lyrics and thank God for the Blood that He spilled for you!
I hope this week you have been exercising the spiritual muscle of thankfulness! May we never be people who are ungrateful to God for all that He has done, but may we be people who are constantly thankful, overflowing with thankfulness for all that God has done, is doing, and will do in the future!
