If we can do nothing without Jesus, as He says, then we must daily, hourly, every minute have a desperate, humble need for Jesus in our life.

"How I Need You" by Highlands Worship is a song I have really enjoyed recently. The chorus goes like this:

Jesus, Jesus, oh, how I need You
You stay the same, You are good in Your ways
Jesus, Jesus, oh, how I need You
You are enough, all my trust is in You, Lord

I love how it declares the desperate need we have for Jesus! This chorus reminds me of John 15:5, specifically the last part. Jesus says, "you can do nothing without me." If we can do nothing without Jesus, we must daily, hourly, every minute have a desperate, humble need for Jesus in our life. If we want to do anything in life, we need Jesus. If we want to live for Jesus today, we need Jesus. If we want to share the Gospel today, we need Jesus. If we want to have patience with our children, we need Jesus. If we want to love our spouse well, we need Jesus. We need Jesus because we can do NOTHING without Him! This song beautifully proclaims the truth of John 15 in a song.

The other part of the song that I love is the repeated proclamation of "I believe in you". Not only do we have a desperate need for Jesus, we need to have a humble declaration of faith in Jesus as well. We need Jesus, and then we believe that when we cry out to Him, God will reveal more of Himself to us, and He will be with us! May our desperate cry of our need for Jesus be coupled with a bold proclamation of belief in Jesus.
