Here is how the chorus goes:
Fresh fire, fresh fire, fire from the Heavens
Open the Heavens right now
Fresh oil, fresh oil, oil of Your presence
Pour out Your presence right now
The chorus reminds me of 2 Corinthians 3:18, especially the part, "makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image." As we desire to look more and more like Jesus, the Lord gives us "fresh fire" and "fresh oil". This fresh fire and oil help us to change to look more like the glorious image we desire to reflect, that of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The bridge elaborates on the desire to continually grow in your relationship with Jesus and not to become complacent in where you are in that relationship.
I'm not satisfied with yesterday's oil, yesterday's fire
Here's my heart, pour it out again
The bridge cries out for daily commitment and drive for newness in our relationship with God. May we not be dependent upon yesterday's quiet time or yesterday's word to get us through today, when God has new things in store for us. There is nothing wrong with remembering the past and the faithfulness of God (that is good!), but yesterday's time and commitment to the Lord does not trump what God wants to reveal to us today.
May we be followers of Jesus who want fresh fire from the heavens and fresh oil of His presence. May we daily and continually chase after Jesus. Go listen to Fresh Fire today and humbly and boldly pray the lyrics of the song.
