"God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins."
(1 John 4:9-10, NLT)
In marriage, you better show your spouse how much you love them! Don't take your spouse for granted! It is vital that spouses demonstrate their love for each other, and it helps to do so in unique and special ways, in ways that make your spouse feel cherished, valued, and truly loved.
When you think about the Gospel, let your mind go to how God SHOWED YOU how much He loves you. He showed how much He loves you "by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him." Think about that type of sacrificial love of a father to send his one and only son.
The mission: Death. Burial. Resurrection.
The result: Eternal life for all who believe.
The Bible proclaims over and over that God SHOWED, SHOWS, and IS SHOWING His love for people by the sending of His Son for all peoples. It wasn't only for people of that day; no, it is also for you and me, some two thousand years later. The Gospel message was for everyone then and is for everyone now.
When God showed His love by sending Jesus to take away our sins, God had you on His mind. There is a song out right now called " Me on Your Mind" by Matthew West that puts it this way:
Who am I that the King of the world
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
Who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, "Come as you are"?
You paid the price, You took the cross
You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind
Me on Your mind
God showed His love for you through the sending of His Son so that you could have eternal life with Him. Meditate on that truth today and let it overfill you with joy and gladness.
God Shows.
