"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
(Ephesians 2:8-10)
We had a great Vacation Bible School at our church last week with hundreds of children, and a small army of volunteers made it possible. It was a blessing to be able to have VBS on our campus again. We had about half the number we had pre-COVID in 2019, but what a blessing it was to see all the children learning about Jesus, playing with their friends, and enjoying being together. And the best news of all: 24 children accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord!
The theme for this year's VBS was, "Spark Studio: Created in Christ, Designed for God's Purpose". Each day the children learned solid biblical truths like: God is the marvelous creator; God uniquely designed each person for His purpose; Jesus is the King whom God promised would come to save us; Jesus fulfilled God the Father's plan to save us, and the Holy Spirit gives us the power to follow God's plan for our lives.
Lifeway Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention does a phenomenal job each year creating a VBS that is fun, interactive, and full of biblical truths. The music is always spot-on and very catchy. I can still hear the theme song playing in my mind! VBS music has come a long way from when I was a kid! The videos, music, games, and biblical teaching make it such a great week for the children. The children led us in worship yesterday at church and did a great job.
