"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death."
(Revelation 12:11)
Last Wednesday night, we gathered for our weekly corporate prayer meeting at Great Hills Baptist Church. In 2020, we started praying together each week. We have seen God do mighty things and answer numerous prayers. Each Wednesday, I ask our church to pray over a certain topic that the Lord puts on my heart. This past week, the topic was spiritual warfare. We spent the hour with some biblical exhortation, praise and worship, and most of all, we prayed. We prayed individually, in groups, and with the many who were watching online. (We average about 200 people who pray with us online each week.)
I began the prayer service by saying, "There is much spiritual warfare going on in this world, our nation, our state, and in many homes in our church. So many of you (of us) are facing some intense battles, and I want us to put our focus on spiritual warfare and praying in Jesus' name for His power and victory to be manifested in our lives." Then I read the following biblical texts related to spiritual warfare. Take a moment and read over these verses from the Word of God and thank the Lord for His Word and for the victory over Satan that He grants to us, His children.
- Revelation 12:11: "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death."
- 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
- 1 John 4:4: "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."
- Matthew 4:3-4: "Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, 'If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.' But He answered and said, 'It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
We will look more tomorrow at this subject of prayer and spiritual warfare.
