1 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.
2 Let all Israel repeat: "His faithful love endures forever."
3 Let Aaron's descendants, the priests, repeat:
"His faithful love endures forever."
4 Let all who fear the LORD repeat: "His faithful love endures forever."
29 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever."
(Psalm 118:1-4, 29, NLT)
Well... How did it go yesterday? How was proclaiming the excellencies of Him, Jesus, who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light? For me, this idea of saying out loud and declaring His praise was a little awkward at first. I was wondering, "Where's the music?" or "What song can I sing?" For me, it was a little weird at first to think of things to declare out loud, but once I started doing it, it was freeing and very encouraging to verbally proclaim Jesus' excellencies.
Today and for the rest of the week, let's look at some specific proclamations we can verbally make over our day, situations, and life! Today we sort of have two, but there is one main one! The "sort of" one is, "Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!" and the one we will focus primarily on today is, "His faithful love endures forever."
Growing up as a pastor's kid, I remember singing "Forever" by Chris Tomlin. The line, "His love endures forever," is mentioned six times, and "forever" is mentioned thirty times in that one song. As a kid, I thought the song went on for forever, but as I look back, Tomlin is just echoing the Psalmist! In Psalm 118, there is an emphatic beginning and end. Verse 1 and verse 29 are the exact same. The Psalmist really wants to convey to the reader a heart of thanksgiving and that God's faithful love endures forever! There is a lot of repetition throughout the Psalm, and I personally need the repetition of main points and ideas, because I can miss them if I am not paying attention. There is no way you can miss "His faithful love endures forever" in the first four verses!
Think about the repeated line, "His faithful love endures forever." Think about and dwell on the truth that the God of the universe has faithful love that endures forever. It endures hard times, good times, calm times, stormy times, certain times, uncertain times; His faithful love endures forever.
Now let's go from thinking to proclaiming. What I want you to do is look at your phone. If you can, I want you to set a reminder on your phone! Tell Siri, or whatever Google has (sorry Android users, I am illiterate when it comes to non-Apple products), to "set a reminder in one hour: 'His faithful love endures forever.'" One, you just proclaimed the excellencies of Him out loud wherever you are. Two, when this reminder goes off, say it out loud. Speak it over your day and whatever circumstance you are in!
What an amazing truth it is that the Lord's faithful love endures forever, so let's keep proclaiming it over our lives forever and ever!
