"The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."
(Revelation 20:10; CSB)
It is unfortunately coming to the point of the year when football is about to be in the offseason. High School football has come to a close. The NFL is deep in the playoffs, and their season is going to conclude soon. College Football ended on January 10, 2022, and it saw the Georgia Bulldogs defeat the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Being an Auburn fan, I dislike the Crimson Tide very much. They are Auburn's number one rival and the biggest adversary to my beloved Tigers! I really dislike Alabama for one simple reason: they are really good and always win. It's very frustrating watching your number one adversary win, and win, and win.
Now, I am not the only one who is fed up with the "weird elephant but crimson tide" winning all the time. If you were to poll the people who were watching Georgia vs. Alabama, most of the people would have said GEORGIA! The people who were cheering for Alabama were the Alabama fans. Every other fan of every other team was most likely cheering for Georgia. Everyone is under the same assumption: it's nice to see Alabama lose, because they sure do a lot of winning! Go Dawgs!
I want to close this week out with the truth: Jesus wins in the end. This seems a little random, but let me explain. It is really easy as followers of Jesus to look at the world in which we live and think, "the Devil sure is winning a lot!" Whether it be looking at the culture, the media, the decline in church attendance, the hate we see on social media, the constant negativity that seems to permeate nowadays, it can get pretty discouraging to think that the Devil is doing a pretty good job here on Earth. He is our adversary, and he does have a grip on our world.
But newsflash: Jesus wins!
Revelation 20 tells us that Satan gets thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur! Hallelujah, what a day and what a sight that is going to be! In the end, we as followers of Jesus who wage war against Satan while we are on earth get to see Satan thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur. Jesus wins. Satan loses. THAT'S GREAT NEWS! I don't know who needs this reminder this morning, afternoon, evening, whenever you read this devotional, but Satan loses, and Jesus wins. This is news available to EVERYONE, and we should be sharing it with everyone. People notice the world isn't getting better, we have the good news of Jesus, and people are desperate to hear it, so let's talk about Jesus' victory and Satan's defeat.
While it may look like our adversary is winning a lot, Jesus has the ultimate victory, and we can never forget that.
