"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going."
(Hebrews 11:8)
Have you moved lately? What comes to your mind when you think about moving to a new place to live? Do thoughts like pain, frustration, and exhaustion come to mind? Moving is a beast, no doubt. Ashley and I are moving today from an apartment to our new home in Liberty Hill, TX. Fortunately, we have downsized through the years, so this move will not be quite like the ones we have experienced in the past. With just the two of us empty-nesters, we have much less stuff to move.
It's pretty cool that the name of the street we are moving to is (Ready for this?) Faith Drive! Our new abode is a 2,400 square foot home, which is plenty big enough for Ashley and me. We have a view overlooking the Hill County of Texas, and we look forward to watching some beautiful Texas sunsets. We are mostly looking forward to helping Great Hills Baptist Church start a new campus in the Santa Rita Ranch area of Liberty Hill. We have prayed about and discussed this idea for a couple of years, and now it is time to step out on faith. Our Core Team will start meeting at the Santa Rita Ranch Elementary School at 5:00 p.m. on Sundays, beginning August 1.
Faith Drive. Stepping out in Faith. Faith. Faith. Faith. It seems that the Christian life is best lived the way it began, and that is by faith. We have trusted God for our eternal salvation; surely, we can trust Him for our daily needs, as well as the major decisions of life like moving, having children, starting a new career, etc. God loves us, and He will never forsake us. Will it always be clear and easy? No way. If it were, then we would have no need to walk by faith.
Are you out on the limb of faith today? Are you nervous about it? I encourage you, as I admonish myself as well, to walk not by fear but by faith. Trusting Jesus is how your relationship with Him began, and it is the key to your relationship flourishing with Him today.
