"Then he said to them, 'Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.'"
(Nehemiah 8:10)
After the completion of the wall around Jerusalem under Nehemiah's leadership, the people of God met to hear the Word of the LORD read by Ezra the priest. God blessed and the people experienced a wonderful revival. Nehemiah instructed them not to sorrow because the joy of the LORD was their strength. It was a wonderful day in the life of the nation of Israel. Nehemiah 8:6 states, "And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. Then all the people answered, 'Amen, Amen!' while lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground."
I long for revival, for God to break out among His people. When revival comes, you will know it. There will be conviction, salvation, rejoicing, and a deeper appreciation for the Word of God.
It is such a blessing to read about the revival happening at Longhollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN. Pastor Robby Gallaty has shared online how God continues to move in power in the church. A couple of weeks ago, a man in the balcony shouted to Robby asking if he would pray for him. The man's mom was in the congregation and had been praying for her son to come to Christ. During the invitation time at the altar, the man met with Robby, and Robby led him to Christ. He was then baptized immediately! The man's mom was rejoicing and told Robby that she was shocked that he was so vocal and yelled out like that in church. She said he was normally quite an introvert! But this man had reached a very low point in his life. He had lost all that was dear to him, and he was looking up from the bottom. By the way, there were 85 more people baptized that day at Longhollow!
I would love for this to happen in every church in the world. No matter the denomination or affiliation, my prayer is that the Spirit of God would move in power upon His church so that the saved are blessed and motivated and the lost are convicted and brought to salvation. Do it, oh God, I pray, for Your glory, Your name, and Your fame.
