"For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother's womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You."
(Psalm 139:13-18)
Last Tuesday, my wife, Ashley, and I toured the St. John Paul II Life Center in Austin, TX. What an incredible place! Right next to the center is the fully staffed OB-GYN Vitae Clinic. 97% of women who are considering abortion and come through the Life Center (800 women and families in 2020) change their minds and decide to keep the baby! This ministry provides all services at no cost to the mom, and they even follow them for three years after the baby is born to help with needs (like diapers, strollers, clothes, etc.). Thanks to Deacon Mark Fair and his team for the incredible work they are doing.
JPII Life Center is having a virtual fund-raising gala on October 16 with featured speakers Lou Holtz and Ben Watson. The remarkable couple who founded the clinic, Tim and Pat Von Dohlen, took Ashley and me to lunch after the tour. Tim and Pat have quite the amazing story. They have authored a book entitled, In Life the Journey is Everything: From the Dump to the Gym and Beyond, in which they share the fascinating journey on which God has led them. It was such a blessing to get to know them and spend some time with them. Tim asked if I would give a 5-minute sermon/message at the gala. I was so humbled and really blessed to be asked.
I invite you to join the virtual gala. Please see the brochure below for more information:
