New Mercies

New Mercies

God's mercies are new every morning. Yesterday's mercies were sufficient for yesterday's challenges, but we need new grace, mercy, and power for today's challenges.

New Mercies

"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
'The LORD is my portion,' says my soul,
'Therefore I hope in Him!'"

(Lamentations 3:22-24)

I am enjoying this new song by Micah Tyler entitled "New Again". Here is the YouTube link if you would like to listen. It will bless and encourage you. "Your mercies are new today; I can rest on Your shoulders; there is grace to start over."
God's mercies are indeed new every morning. Yesterday's mercies were sufficient for yesterday's challenges, but we need new grace, mercy, and power for today's challenges. I am so glad that God is faithful, and He will give us all we need to live the victorious Christian life if we ask and walk in obedience to what He tells us.

Jeremiah knew firsthand the challenges and problems of life. He is known as the "weeping prophet" because of his brokenness over the sins of Israel. Yes, he lamented, but God restored him every time. He experienced the LORD's mercies and compassions (note the plural usage of these nouns). God's mercies and compassions are new every morning. Don't you love that? God gives fresh mercy for today's difficulties; He grants unto us a bountiful supply of compassion when we need it and when we need to extend it to others. God is so very faithful to His people. Jeremiah says the LORD is his portion, his share, his award, the very source of strength and constant supplier of all he needs. (The Hebrew word translated "portion" is heleq, which means portion, share, or award.)

Micah Tyler's story is another example of the LORD's goodness and blessing upon one who simply trusts in Him. Micah was driving a sausage delivery truck in south Texas. He was serving in a local church and was married with three children. He had a gift in music and wanted to share that gift and pursue his dream. Micah said, "I told the Lord, 'I don't know how to be a professional musician, but you've taught me to be faithful.' It was a daily decision to wake up every morning and stop worrying about tomorrow."

Those are powerful words that spoke to my heart. It is a daily decision for us to wake up and trust God and not worry about tomorrow. Strong message!

God has blessed Micah, his family, and ministry. His bio page on his website reads, "Fast-forward down that long road, and the same guy behind the delivery truck wheel now has a record deal on the same label as MercyMe, Newsboys, & Skillet as well as multiple Dove Award & KLOVE Award nominations, two BMI Top 25 Christian Songs, an appearance in a major motion picture, and three #1 songs."

God loves you. Trust Him today.
