"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
(Romans 15:13)
After the final race at RunDisney (the full marathon), Rob and I each had a big cheeseburger, and I had a chocolate shake. I had so much fun at RunDisney and am so grateful to the Lord to be able to do that. I would enjoy doing it again at some point.
I got up early Monday morning, flew to Amarillo, and preached at Paramount Baptist Church, where my friend, Andrew Herbert, serves as the pastor. God is using him, and what a joy it was to be there. It was the night of the national college football game (LSU vs. Clemson), so we wondered if that would impact the amount of people who would come. Well, it did not at all! The church was full on both the lower floor and the balcony, and God blessed us with a wonderful time of worship and fellowship. I preached a message from Romans 15:13 entitled "The God of Hope". I focused on three key words in the text: hope, power, and believe, and then I shared three practical pointers: listen to the voice of truth, look forward, and lean back and relax. The student pastor at the church, Anthony, drew this picture as I preached the sermon, and I thought this was so cool and wanted to show it to you today. I also posted it on my social media accounts.

I am so grateful to the Lord for the great time we had in Amarillo. On the flight back to Austin, I got the chance to share with Ian, a sharp businessman from Louisville, KY. When I spoke with him, I noticed that his bracelet had Philippians 4:13 on it. He and his family faithfully attend Southeast Christian Church, a great church in the Louisville area. When we are available to God to use us, He will indeed use us to share Christ with others. When we witness, if the person we are speaking with knows the Lord, then we have fellowship with a brother or sister in Christ. If they do not know the Lord, then we get the opportunity to witness to them. Of course, if they are not open to us sharing with them, then we cannot, but at least we are available!
One of the main features of my book, For the One, is equipping you to be ready to offer a word of hope when God gives you those opportunities. The book focuses on the greatest influencer and soul winner ever, who of course is Jesus Christ. Those who read the book will gain a better understanding of our Lord and how He loved and shared with the lost, and as a believer, you will be better equipped to influence those God places in your pathway every day. You can get a copy here. (We will also throw in a little gift to say thanks for getting your copy.) I recently got a note from Sophia in Virginia who ordered 15 copies because she wants to give them to friends. Thank you so much! I pray God blesses you as you study with your friends.
Our God is the awesome God of hope. Let us live for Him today and offer this hope we have in Christ with those we meet today.
